R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Jeran Akers has served with distinction as
  Republican Party precinct chair of Precinct 21 in Collin County;
  and
         WHEREAS, Precinct chairs are integral to the success of their
  party's mission to elect public servants who will build a better
  world for current and future generations; and
         WHEREAS, As precinct chair, Mr. Akers has devoted much time
  and energy to providing valuable information to prospective voters,
  to encouraging voters to turn out, and to conducting important
  party business, and by doing so, he has made lasting contributions
  to Collin County; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Akers, a proud Air Force veteran and a prominent
  member of his community, served as mayor of Plano from 2000 until
  2002; a past president and chief executive officer of the Celina
  Chamber of Commerce, he is also the founder and CEO of Akers &
  Associates, a manufacturer's representative selling consumer goods
  to retail and wholesale outlets, as well as the founder and former
  president of Texas Star Trading; and
         WHEREAS, Because public policy affects our daily lives,
  citizens must exercise their right to vote, and the efforts of
  precinct chairs to inspire voters to support their parties'
  candidates are part of a vital and cherished tradition in our state
  and nation; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Jeran Akers for
  serving as Republican Party precinct chair of Precinct 21 in Collin
  County and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Akers as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
