R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The members of Latter Day Prayer Band Ministries in |
|
Houston are paying tribute to founding pastor Mary Roberson and her |
|
husband, Deacon Buck Roberson, at a special service on July 14, |
|
2013; and |
|
WHEREAS, Pastor Mary Roberson entered the ministry 37 years |
|
ago under the leadership of the Reverend Melvin Smith of the |
|
St. James Missionary Baptist Church; she started her own church in |
|
her home in 1984, beginning with seven members, and over the next 29 |
|
years saw the church grow to include more than 150 congregants; and |
|
WHEREAS, Supported every step of the way by her husband, |
|
Pastor Roberson has developed ministries for praise and worship, |
|
praise dance, drama, and music, and her church offers leadership |
|
training, visits to homes and hospitals, weekly Bible study, and a |
|
holiday food pantry; outside of church, Pastor and Deacon Roberson |
|
are loving parents and grandparents; and |
|
WHEREAS, These esteemed Texans have earned the lasting |
|
respect and admiration of all who know them, and they are indeed |
|
deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby honor Pastor Mary Roberson |
|
and Deacon Buck Roberson for their service to Latter Day Prayer Band |
|
Ministries and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued |
|
happiness and fulfillment; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Pastor and Deacon Roberson as an expression of high |
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
