R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Linda Linder of Houston retired from Second Baptist |
|
School on May 29, 2013, concluding a distinguished career in |
|
education that spanned nearly 35 years; and |
|
WHEREAS, A Houston native, the former Linda Jeanne Marmion |
|
grew up in the Garden Oaks neighborhood and graduated from Waltrip |
|
High School; she went on to attend The University of Texas at |
|
Austin, where she served as vice president of Delta Gamma and as a |
|
freshman and summer orientation advisor; in addition, she was a |
|
member of the Cordettes, the honorary auxiliary for the Army ROTC; |
|
she earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education, and after |
|
completing her master's degree in counseling and guidance at the |
|
University of Houston, she began teaching sixth grade in the |
|
Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District; and |
|
WHEREAS, She was joined in matrimony to Gerald A. Linder, and |
|
through the years, they became the proud parents of two children, |
|
Stephanie and Mark; Mrs. Linder devoted herself entirely to her |
|
home and family while her son and daughter were young, and after |
|
they were enrolled at Second Baptist School, she joined the faculty |
|
there; over the course of her 30-year tenure, she helped countless |
|
young Texans build a strong foundation for future success; she also |
|
strove to provide spiritual guidance and to instill in them a sense |
|
of patriotism as well as an interest in the history of their city |
|
and state; and |
|
WHEREAS, Linda Linder opened new vistas of opportunity for |
|
the many students whose lives she touched, and she may indeed |
|
reflect with pride on her outstanding record of achievement; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Linda Linder |
|
on her retirement from Second Baptist School and extend to her |
|
sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Linder as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
