R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Joanne Brown is retiring as director of conference
  planning and media at the Texas Workforce Commission in 2013,
  drawing to a close a notable career with the State of Texas that has
  spanned more than 35 years; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Brown initially worked in the House
  Administration office for the Texas House of Representatives and
  then spent seven years with the Sesquicentennial Commission, where
  she had the distinction of being the last employee remaining when
  operations ceased; shortly thereafter, in 1987, she embarked on her
  tenure with the Texas Workforce Commission and ultimately settled
  into the position of director of conference planning and media; in
  acknowledgment of the skill and dedication that she brought to her
  duties, she received a 1992 Best of Austin Award of Excellence from
  the local chapter of the International Association of Business
  Communicators and was additionally a nominee for a 2002 Outstanding
  Women in Texas Government award; and
         WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Brown has enjoyed the
  love and support of her husband of 42 years, Robert Brown, with whom
  she shared in the joy of raising a daughter, Julianne, and later in
  welcoming a son-in-law, Mark King; a doting grandmother to Grayson
  and Sutton King, she also is a caring and supportive daughter to her
  own mother, Maxine Carrick; and
         WHEREAS, Joanne Brown's professionalism and commitment to
  excellence have greatly benefited her colleagues and fellow Texans,
  and she may indeed take pride in a career well spent as she embarks
  on the next exciting chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Joanne Brown
  on her retirement from the Texas Workforce Commission and extend to
  her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Brown as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
