R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The Muslim Communities of Greater Houston are
  gathering for the Annual Ramadan Iftar Dinner in Stafford on July
  24, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, The ninth and holiest month of the Islamic calendar,
  Ramadan is a time for prayer, reflection, and sacrifice; the
  faithful undertake good deeds and through fasting, they practice
  patience, self-discipline, and humility; and
         WHEREAS, In a demonstration of unity and devotion to shared
  values, this community event is sponsored by the Islamic Society of
  Greater Houston, the Pakistan Association of Greater Houston, His
  Highness The Aga Khan Council for Southwestern United States,
  Al-Noor Masjid, the Myanmar American Chamber of Commerce, Amanah
  Refugee Services, Emerge-USA, Helping Hand USA, Ibn-e-Sina
  Clinics, the Islamic Circle of North America, the Islamic Learning
  Foundation, the Islamic Medical Association, the Islamic Society of
  North America, Madrassah Islamia, Makkah Masjid, Masjid-E-Gouse
  Azim, Mecca Masjid, Houston Masjid Al Islam, the Muslim Council of
  USA, the Muslim Public Affairs Council, the Muslim Student
  Association, the Pakistan American Chamber of Commerce, the
  Pakistan American Council of Texas, the Pakistan American Society
  of Texas, the Risala Foundation, and the Houston Shifa Services
  Foundation; and
         WHEREAS, Media partners collaborating in the event are Hum
  Tum Radio, the Muslim Observer, Naya Andaz Radio, the Pakistan
  Chronicle, the Pakistan Journal, the Pakistan News, the Pakistan
  Post, the Pakistan Times, and Sangeet Radio; and
         WHEREAS, Guided by the theme "Come and Celebrate the True
  Essence of Humility," the Muslim Communities of Greater Houston are
  gathering to strengthen their bonds of fellowship and faith, and it
  is indeed a pleasure to recognize them on this joyous occasion; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 2013 Annual
  Ramadan Iftar Dinner of the Muslim Communities of Greater Houston
  and extend to all those participating in the event sincere best
  wishes for a meaningful observance; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Muslim Communities of Greater Houston as an
  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
