R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Jeffrey P. Fegan, chief executive officer of |
|
Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, is addressing the United |
|
States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce Global Connectivity Summit as a |
|
guest speaker on July 18, 2013; and |
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of Frostburg University, Mr. Fegan earned |
|
his master's degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology; |
|
following work as an aviation consultant and as a noise abatement |
|
officer at Westchester County Airport in New York, he joined DFW |
|
International in 1984 and gained valuable experience in the roles |
|
of chief planner, assistant director of planning, director of |
|
planning and engineering, and deputy executive director of finance |
|
and administration; and |
|
WHEREAS, Appointed CEO in 1994, Mr. Fegan has directed the |
|
fourth-busiest airport in the world for almost two decades; leading |
|
the development and implementation of the facility's first |
|
Strategic Plan and the Airport's Master Plan, he oversaw a $2.8 |
|
billion capital development program, which included construction |
|
of International Terminal D, the Skylink people mover system, and |
|
the Grand Hyatt DFW; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Fegan has also played an integral role in the |
|
establishment of a number of vital support structures, including |
|
the Airport Operations Center, Emergency Operations Center, DFW |
|
Fire Training Research Center, and DFW Airport Wellness Center; |
|
currently, he is managing a $2.3 billion Terminal Renewal and |
|
Improvement Program (TRIP) to modernize DFW's four older terminals; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed professional has further |
|
distinguished himself as a pioneer in airport commercialization; |
|
under his guidance, DFW became one of the first to initiate the |
|
Airport City/Aerotropolis model, which has resulted in significant |
|
new development, and the airport's annual revenue has nearly |
|
tripled; in addition, Mr. Fegan has promoted aviation safety and |
|
environmental sustainability efforts while also focusing on |
|
improved customer satisfaction; and |
|
WHEREAS, Respected in his field, Mr. Fegan is active on the |
|
boards of several industry associations, including Airports |
|
Council International-North America, an organization he has served |
|
as chair, and the U.S. Travel Association Gateway Airports Council; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Jeffrey Fegan's exceptional 29-year tenure with DFW |
|
will draw to a close in September 2013, but his innovation and |
|
expert management will continue to benefit the airport industry and |
|
the entire North Texas region for years to come; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby honor Jeffrey P. Fegan for |
|
his dedicated work as chief executive officer of Dallas/Fort Worth |
|
International Airport and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Fegan as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
