R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Jerry Chapman is retiring as general manager of the |
|
Greater Texoma Utility Authority in 2013, concluding a |
|
distinguished tenure with the agency that has spanned more than |
|
three decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, The authority's first general manager, Mr. Chapman |
|
took office in 1979, having helped form GTUA as executive director |
|
of the Texoma Council of Governments; he led TCOG, then known as |
|
the Texoma Regional Planning Commission, from 1968 to 1982; a |
|
graduate of Austin College, he also holds a master's degree in |
|
economics from the University of Oklahoma; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Chapman has long worked effectively to ensure |
|
adequate water resources for the region; his persistence and broad |
|
knowledge of the regulatory organizational structure were key in |
|
securing the most recent reallocation of Lake Texoma water, a |
|
process that took 10 years and required engagement at both the state |
|
and federal levels; as a result of his efforts, he has placed the |
|
authority on a sound footing for financing, construction, and |
|
operation of water and wastewater infrastructure for years to come; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan has contributed immeasurably to |
|
the quality of life enjoyed by residents of Sherman, Denison, and |
|
other area communities through his commitment to excellence and his |
|
skillful leadership of the GTUA, and as he prepares to embark on the |
|
next exciting chapter of his life, he may indeed take pride in a |
|
career well spent; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Jerry Chapman |
|
on his retirement as general manager of the Greater Texoma Utility |
|
Authority and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
|
happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Chapman as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
