R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
  by a great and enduring love, Jim and Janice Conkwright of Lubbock
  are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on August 17, 2013;
  and
         WHEREAS, Jim Conkwright and the former Janice Berry were
  united in matrimony at Whaley United Methodist Church in
  Gainesville, Texas, in 1963; through the years, they have nurtured
  a fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with the
  addition of two daughters, Leslie and Robin, and two grandsons,
  Henry and Colby; and
         WHEREAS, Respected members of their West Texas community,
  Mr. Conkwright retired as general manager of the High Plains
  Underground Water Conservation District No. 1 and Mrs. Conkwright
  was a teacher in the Hereford and Lubbock Independent School
  Districts; moreover, she has been an active volunteer with the Deaf
  Smith County Historical Society and Lubbock Meals on Wheels, as
  well as with her churches; and
         WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past
  half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant
  in their commitment to each other, and the strength of their love
  has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with
  grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Jim and Janice
  Conkwright on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them
  sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Conkwright as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
