R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Victoria Neave has been elected chair of the
  Southeast Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Dallas, Ms. Neave has amassed an
  impressive resume in law and social advocacy; she is a 2009 magna
  cum laude graduate of the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas
  Southern University, and, while there, she received myriad awards
  for her academic excellence and her performance in moot court and
  other competitions; and
         WHEREAS, Early in her career, Ms. Neave worked pro bono for
  nonprofit organizations, including the League of United Latin
  American Citizens; during that time, she provided counsel on a
  range of legal issues, mediated meetings involving government
  entities, successfully represented low-income families, and
  assisted in the design of a dropout prevention program that won a
  $20,000 grant; a member of the board of directors for a center
  serving low-income seniors, she also co-chaired the 2010 Latino
  Elderly Conference to inform senior citizens of their legal rights;
  and
         WHEREAS, In 2011, Ms. Neave joined Weil, Gotshal & Manges, a
  top-ranked international law firm, where she handled a number of
  high-profile cases in behalf of major corporate clients; she
  continued to provide pro bono assistance as Weil's 2012
  Lend-A-Lawyer to the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program and as part
  of a team that successfully argued for a Texas inmate's
  compensation in a wrongful imprisonment case; in addition to these
  responsibilities, she offered counsel in family law, probate, and
  civil proceedings; and
         WHEREAS, This distinguished legal professional most recently
  opened her own practice, the Victoria Neave Law Firm, which serves
  clients across Texas; she is the current vice president of the board
  of La Voz del Anciano, which ministers to the needs of the elderly
  population in Dallas, as well as a board member of the Dallas
  Hispanic Bar Association and the co-chair of its pro bono
  committee; a member of the 2012 Dallas Association of Young Lawyers
  Leadership Class, she now serves as a representative for the states
  of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana in the Hispanic
  National Bar Association Young Lawyers Division; and
         WHEREAS, Engaged in her community and dedicated to her
  profession, Victoria Neave brings energy and commitment to her
  duties as chair of the Southeast Dallas Hispanic Chamber of
  Commerce, and she may reflect with pride on her achievements thus
  far as she takes on this challenging new role; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Victoria
  Neave on her election as chair of the Southeast Dallas Hispanic
  Chamber of Commerce and the opening of her own law practice and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for a productive and rewarding
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Neave as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
