SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 38
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Keep Allen Beautiful and its volunteers and |
|
|
affiliates received several impressive accolades at the 46th |
|
|
annual Keep Texas Beautiful Conference held in San Antonio from |
|
|
June 17 to 20, 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Associated with Keep America Beautiful and Keep |
|
|
Texas Beautiful, this successful civic conservation and |
|
|
beautification program sponsors such education and outreach |
|
|
initiatives as an Arbor Day poster contest, a reuse-a-shoe |
|
|
contest, and a recycled art contest, as well as suggestions for |
|
|
Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow service projects; Keep Allen |
|
|
Beautiful also sponsors Adopt-a-Highway, Adopt-a-Waterway, and |
|
|
Adopt-a-Spot cleanup efforts; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Keep Allen Beautiful received the Sustained |
|
|
Excellence Award and was recognized as a Gold Star Affiliate for |
|
|
the ninth year in a row at the Governor's Community Achievement |
|
|
Awards Dinner, while at the Keep Texas Beautiful Awards luncheon, |
|
|
science teacher Laurie Merrick of the Allen Independent School |
|
|
District received the 2012 Sadie Ray Graff Educator Award, Randy |
|
|
Boys was named Volunteer of the Year for his work with the Boy |
|
|
Scouts and his efforts to organize Earthfest 2012, and Allen's |
|
|
waste services provider, Community Waste Disposal, received the |
|
|
Ebby Halliday-Maurice Acers Business and Industry Innovation |
|
|
Award; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since its founding by the Allen City Council in |
|
|
1997, Keep Allen Beautiful has played a significant role in the |
|
|
community, and these awards represent a fitting tribute to the |
|
|
organization's efforts to enrich the lives of the city's residents |
|
|
for years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
|
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Keep Allen |
|
|
Beautiful on receiving awards from Keep Texas Beautiful and extend |
|
|
to all those associated with the organization sincere best wishes |
|
|
for continued success in their important work; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Keep Allen Beautiful as an expression of high regard |
|
|
by the Texas Senate. |
