SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 39

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the REACH Therapeutic Riding Center for its outstanding work in helping wounded veterans through the Horses for Heroes program; and

WHEREAS, Horses for Heroes is a free program for United States military veterans who have suffered injuries in the line of duty; it works to improve the mind, body, and spirit of disabled and wounded veterans through the use of horses, and it offers the opportunity to socialize with fellow veterans; and

WHEREAS, This exceptional program draws on the well-documented bond between horses and humans to help injured veterans adjust physically and emotionally to their post-war lives and to achieve their highest potential; and

WHEREAS, Volunteers who are also veterans are recruited to support their fellow veterans; these men and women provide moral and physical support and honor the military's philosophy of leaving no soldier behind; and

WHEREAS, Horses for Heroes plays a vital role in the rehabilitation of the men and women who have courageously defended the nation's security and democratic ideals; it is truly fitting that this exceptional program be recognized for the impact it has had on the lives of the nation's veterans; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend the staff and volunteers of the REACH Therapeutic Riding Center on their remarkable work with the Horses for Heroes program and extend to them best wishes for continued success; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the center as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
