SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 46
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
recognize Shirley Gladney, who retired January 31, 2013, after |
|
more than 39 years of outstanding service with the United States |
|
Postal Service; and |
|
WHEREAS, Shirley began her postal career on November 10, |
|
1973, as a distribution clerk; she went on to become the first |
|
African American in the Dallas postal service to serve as a |
|
clerk-stenographer; and |
|
WHEREAS, She displayed exceptional organizational skills |
|
and expertise throughout her tenure with the postal service, and |
|
she contributed to the successful operation of many departments; |
|
she received numerous awards and certificates for her |
|
outstanding performance; and |
|
WHEREAS, Capable and hard-working, she was able to |
|
successfully complete a college degree while working for the |
|
postal service; she is also a gifted entrepreneur and has become |
|
licensed as a real estate agent, a recording agent, and a |
|
paralegal; and |
|
WHEREAS, An exemplary employee, she earned the respect and |
|
admiration of her fellow workers, and her presence at the United |
|
States Postal Service will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
83rd Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Shirley |
|
Gladney on her exceptional service as an employee of the United |
|
States Postal Service and extend to her best wishes for continued |
|
success in all her endeavors; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
