Amend CSSB 8 (house committee report) by adding the following appropriately numbered SECTION to the bill and renumbering subsequent SECTIONS of the bill accordingly:

SECTION ____.  (a) Not later than August 31, 2014, the state auditor's office shall perform a study and issue a report concerning the indictment and criminal prosecution for Medicaid fraud under Section 35A.02, Penal Code, of employees of the San Antonio, Texas, call center for the medical transportation program established under Section 531.02414, Government Code. The study and report must review the following actions of the Health and Human Services Commission and the commission's office of inspector general:

(1)  efforts to prevent Medicaid fraud at the call center; and

(2)  responses to incidents of Medicaid fraud at the call center.

(b)  This section expires September 1, 2015.
