BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE
Carolyn S. Jones has served the municipality of Winnsboro for many years. Among her various roles, she has served as an educator and as mayor for almost 12 years, a tenure longer than any other Winnsboro mayor. City officials and residents would like to show their appreciation for someone who has done so much for their community. C.S.H.B. 679 seeks to celebrate and honor Carolyn S. Jones for her service to Winnsboro.

ANALYSIS
C.S.H.B. 679 amends the Transportation Code to designate the portion of State Highway 37 in Wood County between its intersection with Farm-to-Market Road 515 and its intersection with State Highway 11 as the Carolyn S. Jones Highway, in addition to any other designation. The bill requires the Texas Department of Transportation, subject to a grant or donation of funds, to design and construct markers indicating the designation as the Carolyn S. Jones Highway, and any other appropriate information, and to erect a marker at each end of the highway and at appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
