AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

Current law grants the County Court of Brazos County the general jurisdiction of a probate court and juvenile jurisdiction, but the court is prevented from having jurisdiction over other civil or criminal cases.  Interested parties contend that this restriction is no longer necessary.  H.B. 1114 seeks to restore the jurisdiction of the County Court of Brazos County, so that the court has the jurisdiction generally granted to a constitutional county court.

H.B. 1114 amends current law relating to restoring the jurisdiction of the constitutional county court in Brazos County.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.
