BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Interested parties contend that it is currently unclear whether the Nueces County Road District No. 4 is authorized to lease or sell land under its control.  H.B. 1357 seeks to clarify this matter.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.

ANALYSIS

H.B. 1357 amends the Special District Local Laws Code to authorize the Nueces County Road District No. 4 to lease or sell land that is no longer used for district purposes.

EFFECTIVE DATE

On passage, or, if the bill does not receive the necessary vote, September 1, 2013.
