AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

The Val Verde County Court-At Law (court) was initiated in January 1, 1982.  The court has concurrent jurisdiction with the District Courts in juvenile and domestic related matters.

Since 1982, the court has participated in juvenile board meeting state standards and budget approvals.  However, in mid-2012, the court was made aware that the county judge was not included in the statute pertaining to Val Verde County pursuant to Section 2391(a), Human Resources Code.

H.B. 3952 amends current law relating to the composition of the juvenile board of Val Verde County.
