AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT
S.B. 274 extends the heavy haul corridor in Chambers County to include access to all of the industrial parks centrally located in the same part of the county. The extension will provide a safe and efficient route for all overweight truck traffic moving through the industrial area. This corridor will help facilitate port related cargo transportation between facilities and businesses along the State Highway 99, Farm-to-Market Road 565, and Farm-to-Market Road 1405 corridors.
As proposed, S.B. 274 amends current law relating to permits for oversize and overweight vehicles in a certain county.
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.
SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS
SECTION 1. Amends Section 623.252(b), Transportation Code, as follows:
(b) Authorizes a permit issued under this subchapter to authorize:
(1) the transport of cargo only on certain roads in Chambers County, including the frontage road of State Highway 99 between its crossing with Cedar Bayou and its intersection with Interstate Highway 10, rather than the frontage road of State Highway 99 located in the Cedar Crossing Business Park; and Farm-to-Market Road 565 from its intersection with Farm-to-Market Road 1405 to its intersection with State Highway 99, rather than Farm-to-Market Road 565 from its intersection with Farm-to-Market Road 1405 east approximately 6,200 linear feet to the western edge of the 10-foot pipeline easement recorded at volume 351, page 760, of the Chambers County deed records; and
(2) Makes no changes to this subdivision.
SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 2013.
