AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Bowl Championship Series is currently eligible to participate in the Major Events Trust Fund.  However, last year the NCAA approved a new format to decide the Football Bowl Subdivision championship.

S.B. 398 ensures that the NCAA will continue to be eligible to participate in the Major Events Trust Fund.

As proposed, S.B. 398 amends current law relating to conforming the eligibility under a major events trust fund of a National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Football Bowl Subdivision postseason event with the changes to the Bowl Championship Series system.
