AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

S.B. 585 seeks to provide the City of Victoria with the authority to enact an ordinance implementing a hotel occupancy tax of up to seven percent.  Under current law the city lacks such authority, limiting the revenue available for city projects.

S.B. 585 amends current law relating to the use of municipal hotel occupancy tax revenue to enhance and upgrade sports facilities in certain municipalities.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.
