AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

S.B. 1101 will extend the Texas Cybersecurity, Education, and Economic Development Council (council), as established by S.B. 988, 82nd Legislature, Regular Session, 2011, for an additional two years.

The council will continue to facilitate relationships between members representing governmental agencies, businesses, and institutions of higher education in an effort to advance cybersecurity initiatives, while also providing research for the improvement of the cybersecurity infrastructure of the state. The role of the council will be especially important as various aspects of the recommendations made in the council's 2012 report begin to be put into action.

As proposed, S.B. 1101 amends current law relating to the Cybersecurity, Education, and Economic Development Council.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
