A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to monies for women's health care services. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 32.024(c), Human Resources Code, is |
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
(c) The department shall establish standards governing the |
|
amount, duration, and scope of services provided under the medical |
|
assistance program. The standards may not be lower than the minimum |
|
standards required by federal law and rule as a condition for |
|
obtaining federal matching funds for support of the program, and |
|
may not be lower than the standards in effect on August 27, 1967. |
|
Standards or payments for the vendor drug program may not be lower |
|
than those in effect on January 1, 1973. |

The department shall ensure that money spent for
|
|
purposes of the demonstration project for women's health care
|
|
services under former Section 32.0248, Human Resources Code, or a
|
|
similar successor program is not used to perform or promote
|
|
elective abortions, or to contract with entities that perform or
|
|
promote elective abortions or affiliate with entities that perform
|
|
or promote elective abortions.

SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
