A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to an obesity and wellness information portal on the |
|
|
comptroller's Internet website. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 403, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 403.0306 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 403.0306. OBESITY AND WELLNESS INFORMATION PORTAL. (a) |
|
|
The comptroller shall establish and maintain an obesity and |
|
|
wellness information portal on the comptroller's Internet website |
|
|
to be used by children, parents, schools, businesses, state |
|
|
agencies, and the general public. |
|
|
(b) The portal must: |
|
|
(1) serve as a clearinghouse for information relating |
|
|
to obesity and wellness; and |
|
|
(2) provide resources relating to obesity and |
|
|
wellness. |
|
|
(c) The comptroller may consult with the Health and Human |
|
|
Services Commission and the Department of State Health Services in |
|
|
establishing the content for the portal. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
