A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to mandatory supervision for certain offenses involving |
|
|
the possession of a controlled substance. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 508, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 508.1491 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 508.1491. MANDATORY SUPERVISION FOR CERTAIN OFFENSES |
|
|
INVOLVING POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE. Sections |
|
|
508.149(b), (c), and (d) do not apply to an inmate serving a |
|
|
sentence for a third degree felony offense under Section 481.115, |
|
|
481.1151, 481.116, 481.1161, 481.117, 481.118, or 481.121, Health |
|
|
and Safety Code. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to any |
|
|
inmate serving a term of imprisonment in a facility operated by or |
|
|
under contract with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on or |
|
|
after the effective date of this Act, regardless of when the inmate |
|
|
was sentenced to serve that term. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
