A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to training for school district liaisons who assist |
|
|
students in the conservatorship of the state with school |
|
|
enrollments and transfers. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 33.904, Education Code, is amended to |
|
|
read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 33.904. LIAISON FOR CERTAIN CHILDREN IN |
|
|
CONSERVATORSHIP OF STATE. (a) Each school district shall appoint |
|
|
at least one employee to act as a liaison officer to facilitate the |
|
|
enrollment in or transfer to a public school of a child in the |
|
|
district who is in the conservatorship of the state. |
|
|
(b) The agency shall: |
|
|
(1) maintain a list of all district liaisons appointed |
|
|
under Subsection (a); and |
|
|
(2) provide training and information to the district |
|
|
liaisons on best practices for facilitating the enrollment in or |
|
|
transfer to a public school of children who are in the |
|
|
conservatorship of the state. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
