A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the expiration dates of concealed handgun licenses for |
|
certain members of the United States armed forces. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 411.183, Government Code, is amended by |
|
amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (e) to read as |
|
follows: |
|
(b) A renewed license expires on the license holder's |
|
birthday [birthdate], five years after the date of the expiration |
|
of the previous license. |
|
(e) If the expiration date for an original, duplicate, |
|
modified, or renewed license of a member of the United States armed |
|
forces occurs while the license holder is on active duty deployed |
|
outside of the United States, the license does not expire on that |
|
date but remains valid until the first birthday of the license |
|
holder occurring after the license holder's return from deployment. |
|
A license holder may not receive consecutive extensions for the |
|
license under this subsection. For purposes of this subsection, |
|
"United States armed forces" includes the reserves and national |
|
guard. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
