A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to an exemption for certain solo practitioner attorneys |
|
|
from electronic filing fees. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter I, Chapter 51, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 51.808 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 51.808. EXEMPTION FROM ELECTRONIC FILING FEES. An |
|
|
attorney licensed to practice law in this state who is a solo |
|
|
practitioner is exempt from a fee imposed for the electronic filing |
|
|
of documents under this subchapter by a district or county clerk, a |
|
|
clerk of a court of appeals, or a vendor contracting to provide |
|
|
electronic filing services for the district, county, or court of |
|
|
appeals. |

|
SECTION 2. Section 51.808, Government Code, as added by |
|
|
this Act, applies only to a fee imposed for the electronic filing of |
|
|
documents on or after the effective date of this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
