A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to alcohol and controlled substance statistics compiled |
|
and reported by the Department of Family and Protective Services. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 261.004, Family Code, is amended by |
|
amending Subsections (a) and (c) and adding Subsection (b-1) to |
|
read as follows: |
|
(a) The department shall prepare and disseminate statistics |
|
by county relating to the department's activities under this |
|
subtitle and include the information specified in Subsections |
|
[Subsection] (b) and (b-1) in an annual report available to the |
|
public. |
|
(b-1) In addition to the information reported under |
|
Subsection (b), the department annually shall report the following |
|
information: |
|
(1) the number of children reported to the department |
|
who were born addicted to alcohol or a controlled substance; |
|
(2) the controlled substances to which the children |
|
described by Subdivision (1) were addicted; |
|
(3) the number of children born addicted to alcohol or |
|
a controlled substance who were removed from their homes and have |
|
been diagnosed as having a disability or chronic medical condition |
|
resulting from the addiction; and |
|
(4) the number of parents who test positive for the |
|
presence of a controlled substance during a department |
|
investigation of a report of abuse or neglect of the parent's child. |
|
(c) The department shall compile the information specified |
|
in Subsections [Subsection] (b) and (b-1) for the preceding year in |
|
a report to be submitted to the legislature and the general public |
|
not later than February 1 of each year. The department must post the |
|
information specified in Subsection (b-1) on the department's |
|
Internet website. |
|
SECTION 2. Section 261.004, Family Code, as amended by this |
|
Act, applies to information collected by the Department of Family |
|
and Protective Services on and after the effective date of this Act. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
