A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the electronic mail address of a prospective juror. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 62.0111(c), Government Code, is amended |
|
to read as follows: |
|
(c) The county officer responsible for summoning jurors |
|
shall ensure that [purge] the electronic mail address of a |
|
prospective juror collected under Subsection (b) is kept |
|
confidential and is not disclosed to anyone other than the court, |
|
court staff, and attorneys and parties to the case on which the |
|
prospective juror would serve [:
|
|
[(1)
if the prospective juror serves on a jury, not
|
|
later than the 30th day after the date that:
|
|
[(A)
the county sends the person payment for jury
|
|
service; or
|
|
[(B)
the county would otherwise send the person
|
|
payment for jury service, if the person has donated the payment
|
|
under Section 61.003; or
|
|
[(2)
if the prospective juror does not serve on a jury,
|
|
not later than the 30th day after the date that the court releases
|
|
the person from jury service]. |

SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
