A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the issuance by reciprocity of a license to practice
  medical physics to persons who hold a license from the United States
  armed forces.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 602.211(a), Occupations Code, is amended
  to read as follows:
         (a)  On receipt of an application and fee under Section
  602.203, the board may waive any prerequisite for obtaining a
  license to a person who holds a license to practice medical or
  radiological physics in:
               (1)  another state, territory, or jurisdiction
  acceptable to the board that has requirements for the licensing of
  medical or radiological physicists that are substantially the same
  as the requirements of this chapter; or
               (2)  the United States armed forces, including the
  United States Coast Guard.
         SECTION 2.  The executive commissioner of the Health and
  Human Services Commission shall adopt rules to implement Section
  602.211(a), Occupations Code, as amended by this Act, as soon as
  practicable after the effective date of this Act.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
