A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a permit exemption for certain drainage districts |
|
|
located in counties bordering the United Mexican States. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 11.142, Water Code, is amended by adding |
|
|
Subsection (e) to read as follows: |
|
|
(e) Without obtaining a permit, a drainage district that is |
|
|
located in a county bordering the United Mexican States and that has |
|
|
one or more drainage ditches that empty into the Gulf of Mexico may |
|
|
construct on district property one or more reservoirs supplied from |
|
|
the district's drainage ditches. The district is authorized to |
|
|
sell, on terms acceptable to the district, water in such reservoir |
|
|
to a municipality, irrigation district, or other person. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
