A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the certification of sheriffs and deputy sheriffs to |
|
enforce commercial motor vehicle safety standards in certain |
|
counties. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 644.101(c), Transportation Code, is |
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
(c) A sheriff or a deputy sheriff of a county bordering the |
|
United Mexican States or of a county with a population of one [2.2] |
|
million or more is eligible to apply for certification under this |
|
section. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
