A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to allowing a person to register a motor vehicle when |
|
|
delinquent in the payment of certain civil penalties. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 707.017(a), Transportation Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(a) If the owner of a motor vehicle is delinquent in the |
|
|
payment of a civil penalty imposed under this chapter, the county |
|
|
assessor-collector or the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles may |
|
|
not refuse to register, under Section 502.010 or any other law, a |
|
|
motor vehicle alleged to have been involved in the violation. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 707.017(b), Transportation Code, is |
|
|
repealed. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
