A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to an annual report on expanding the use of the Public |
|
|
Assistance Reporting Information System prepared by the Texas |
|
|
Veterans Commission. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 434, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 434.022 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 434.022. REPORT ON VETERANS. (a) Not later than |
|
|
January 1 of each year, the commission shall submit a report on |
|
|
expanding the use of the Public Assistance Reporting Information |
|
|
System (PARIS) operated by the Administration for Children and |
|
|
Families of the United States Department of Health and Human |
|
|
Services to the governor, the lieutenant governor, the speaker of |
|
|
the house of representatives, each member of the legislature, the |
|
|
Health and Human Services Commission, the Veterans' Land Board, and |
|
|
the Department of Aging and Disability Services. |
|
|
(b) A report under this section must include information |
|
|
identifying: |
|
|
(1) veterans in this state with a service-connected |
|
|
disability with a disability rating of 70 percent or more; |
|
|
(2) counties with the most veterans and rural counties |
|
|
with a large population of veterans 45 years of age or older who, |
|
|
based on disability ratings, may be eligible to receive Aid and |
|
|
Attendance or Housebound benefits from the United States Department |
|
|
of Veterans Affairs; and |
|
|
(3) counties with veterans who are at least 45 years of |
|
|
age but younger than 66 years of age who receive enhanced monthly |
|
|
benefits related to a service-connected disability. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
