A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to a study of the feasibility of establishing a program to |
|
connect veterans seeking employment in school security positions |
|
with independent school districts seeking to employ security |
|
personnel. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 434, Government Code, is |
|
amended by adding Section 434.022 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 434.022. FEASIBILITY STUDY ON VETERANS AS SCHOOL |
|
SECURITY PERSONNEL. (a) The commission, the Texas Workforce |
|
Commission, and the Texas Education Agency shall jointly study the |
|
feasibility of establishing an interagency program to connect |
|
veterans seeking employment in school security positions with |
|
independent school districts seeking to employ security personnel. |
|
(b) Not later than June 1, 2014, the commission, the Texas |
|
Workforce Commission, and the Texas Education Agency shall report |
|
the results of the study, its findings, and any recommendations to |
|
the legislature. |
|
(c) This section expires September 1, 2015. |

SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
