A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to a study of the feasibility of establishing a program to
  connect veterans seeking employment in school security positions
  with independent school districts seeking to employ security
  personnel.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter A, Chapter 434, Government Code, is
  amended by adding Section 434.022 to read as follows:
         Sec. 434.022.  FEASIBILITY STUDY ON VETERANS AS SCHOOL
  SECURITY PERSONNEL.  (a)  The commission, the Texas Workforce
  Commission, and the Texas Education Agency shall jointly study the
  feasibility of establishing an interagency program to connect
  veterans seeking employment in school security positions with
  independent school districts seeking to employ security personnel.
         (b)  Not later than June 1, 2014, the commission, the Texas
  Workforce Commission, and the Texas Education Agency shall report
  the results of the study, its findings, and any recommendations to
  the legislature.
         (c)  This section expires September 1, 2015.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
