A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the disposition of surplus data processing equipment by |
|
the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 497.012(b), Government Code, is amended |
|
to read as follows: |
|
(b) If the department determines that it is economically |
|
feasible, the department shall repair or refurbish the surplus or |
|
salvage data processing equipment. The department may [shall] sell |
|
the repaired or refurbished data processing equipment to a school |
|
district, a state agency, 501c(3), or a political subdivision of |
|
the state in that relative order of preference. |
|
SECTION 2. Section 497.012(e), Government Code, is |
|
repealed. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
