A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the applicability of the Texas Theft Liability Act to |
|
|
certain claims by inmates for lost, damaged, or confiscated |
|
|
property. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 134, Civil Practice and Remedies Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 134.0025 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 134.0025. APPLICABILITY. This chapter does not apply |
|
|
to a claim made by an inmate housed in a facility operated by the |
|
|
Texas Department of Criminal Justice for property lost, damaged, or |
|
|
confiscated by an employee of the department. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
