A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a study regarding the provision of the drug palivizumab |
|
|
through the Medicaid vendor drug program to premature newborns. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. The Department of State Health Services shall |
|
|
conduct a study to determine the appropriateness of criteria set |
|
|
for approval for dosage to premature newborns: |
|
|
(1) whether a newborn should meet 3 criteria before |
|
|
administration of drug is approved; |
|
|
(2) access to quality of medical care for a newborn |
|
|
receiving this drug; |
|
|
(3) any other factors the Agency considers relevant. |
|
|
SECTION 2. No later than December 1, 2014, The Texas |
|
|
Education Agency shall: |
|
|
(1) publish the results of the study required by this |
|
|
Act on the commission's available Internet website; and |
|
|
(2) deliver the results of the study required by this |
|
|
Act to: |
|
|
(A) the governor, the lieutenant governor, the |
|
|
speaker of the house of representatives, and each committee of each |
|
|
house of the legislature that has jurisdiction over state health |
|
|
services |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
