A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to withdrawal from the uniform group insurance program by |
|
|
certain school districts. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 1579.152, Insurance Code, is amended to |
|
|
read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 1579.152. PARTICIPATION OF OTHER SCHOOL DISTRICTS. |
|
|
(a) Effective September 1, 2005, a school district with more than |
|
|
500 employees may elect to participate in the program. |
|
|
(b) Except as provided by Subsection (c), a school district |
|
|
may elect to withdraw from the program on or after the fifth |
|
|
anniversary of the date the district elected to participate under |
|
|
Subsection (a). |
|
|
(c) A school district that elected to participate under |
|
|
Subsection (a) before September 1, 2013, may elect to withdraw from |
|
|
the program on or after September 1, 2018. |
|
|
(d) A school district that elects to participate or withdraw |
|
|
under this section shall apply for participation or give notice of |
|
|
withdrawal in the manner prescribed by the trustee by rule. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
