A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to eligibility to serve as an arbitrator in a binding |
|
arbitration of an appeal of an appraisal review board order. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 41A.06, Tax Code, is amended by adding |
|
Subsection (c) to read as follows: |
|
(c) A person who is a former employee, a former member of the |
|
governing body, or a former officer of a taxing unit in this state |
|
or an appraisal district in this state is ineligible to serve as an |
|
arbitrator under this chapter until the fourth anniversary of the |
|
date the person ceased to be an employee, member, or officer. |
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
to a person who initially qualifies to serve as an arbitrator under |
|
Chapter 41A, Tax Code, on or after the effective date of this Act. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
