A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the removal of certain political party officers. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 171, Election Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 171.0222 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 171.0222. REMOVAL OF CHAIR. The county executive |
|
|
committee may remove a county chair for cause, including failure to |
|
|
properly perform the chair's duties to the political party, a |
|
|
violation of a policy or procedure adopted by the state or county |
|
|
executive committee, or a violation of a law of this state or the |
|
|
United States, on a written charge and after a public hearing. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
