CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, A 75th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of
  mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Alva and Willie Mae
  Haydon of Dripping Springs celebrated this joyous milestone in
  their marriage on January 1, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Both lifelong residents of Dripping Springs, Alva
  Haydon and the former Willie Mae Wilson were joined in matrimony in
  1938; through the years, they have been blessed with a treasured
  family that includes 2 sons, as well as 5 grandchildren and 12
  great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Haydon is a veteran of the United States Navy who
  served his country honorably in World War II; on returning to his
  hometown, he helped form the Dripping Springs Fire Department and
  served as its first chief; he further contributed to his fellow
  citizens as a member of the local school board and as a longtime
  president of the Dripping Springs Water Supply Corporation, and he
  held office as the city's second mayor from 1982 to 1986; along the
  way, Mr. Haydon owned and operated Central Garage for many years;
  and
         WHEREAS, Devoted to her community, Mrs. Haydon is a former
  PTA volunteer who also shared her time with the Hill Country Senior
  Citizens Center and Thrift Store and the Hill Country Care
  Auxiliary; in addition, she is a charter member and past president
  of the General Ben McCulloch Chapter of the United Daughters of the
  Confederacy, and she has served as Worthy Matron of the Dripping
  Springs Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star; and
         WHEREAS, The Haydons are valued members of the First Baptist
  Church of Dripping Springs, where Mr. Haydon has been a deacon for
  more than half a century and Mrs. Haydon's involvement has included
  singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, and serving as church
  clerk; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Haydon have enjoyed seven and a half
  decades of abiding love and affection for each other, and they are
  among an exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a
  lasting commitment; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 83rd Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby honor Alva and Willie Mae Haydon on their 75th wedding
  anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
  happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Haydon as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
