CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, Ciro Treviño is a dedicated public servant who has
  worked for the people of the Rio Grande Valley for more than four
  decades; and
         WHEREAS, A longtime independent insurance agent, Mr. Treviño
  began his distinguished career in public service as a member of the
  Edinburg City Council in 1967; he later served as a justice of the
  peace before being elected Hidalgo County Tax Assessor-Collector, a
  position he held with distinction for more than 20 years, during
  which time his peers elected him as president of the Texas Tax
  Assessor-Collectors Association; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Treviño has since 2005 served as a member of the
  board of trustees of the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School
  District; thanks in large part to his efforts, the district
  improved from having a single elementary campus with an exemplary
  rating to having 13 schools so rated today; the district has also
  seen its number of schools rated as recognized rise from 11 to 19;
  in 2009, he was named School Board Trustee of the Year by the Texas
  Classroom Teachers Association; and
         WHEREAS, He is active in numerous community and professional
  organizations, including the Freddy Gonzalez American Legion Post
  408 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars; it is truly fitting that he be
  recognized for his many achievements and his countless
  contributions to his community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 83rd Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby commend Ciro Treviño on his legacy of public service and
  extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his
  endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for him
  as an expression of esteem from the Texas Legislature.
