CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, Ciro Treviño is a dedicated public servant who has |
|
worked for the people of the Rio Grande Valley for more than four |
|
decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, A longtime independent insurance agent, Mr. Treviño |
|
began his distinguished career in public service as a member of the |
|
Edinburg City Council in 1967; he later served as a justice of the |
|
peace before being elected Hidalgo County Tax Assessor-Collector, a |
|
position he held with distinction for more than 20 years, during |
|
which time his peers elected him as president of the Texas Tax |
|
Assessor-Collectors Association; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Treviño has since 2005 served as a member of the |
|
board of trustees of the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School |
|
District; thanks in large part to his efforts, the district |
|
improved from having a single elementary campus with an exemplary |
|
rating to having 13 schools so rated today; the district has also |
|
seen its number of schools rated as recognized rise from 11 to 19; |
|
in 2009, he was named School Board Trustee of the Year by the Texas |
|
Classroom Teachers Association; and |
|
WHEREAS, He is active in numerous community and professional |
|
organizations, including the Freddy Gonzalez American Legion Post |
|
408 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars; it is truly fitting that he be |
|
recognized for his many achievements and his countless |
|
contributions to his community; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 83rd Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
hereby commend Ciro Treviño on his legacy of public service and |
|
extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his |
|
endeavors; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for him |
|
as an expression of esteem from the Texas Legislature. |
