CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, In March 2010, President Barack Obama signed into
  law a sweeping health care bill, the Patient Protection and
  Affordable Care Act; and
         WHEREAS, A number of reports have since suggested that the
  new federal Medicaid standards imposed by the Act will require
  taxpayers to spend millions, even billions, more over the next
  decade; and
         WHEREAS, In addition, there are likely to be ramifications
  for small employers and those who purchase private insurance; for
  instance, it has yet to be determined how many people will lose
  their health insurance as a result of the ACA; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 83rd Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby direct the comptroller of public accounts to conduct a study
  to determine the costs to the state of instituting the Affordable
  Care Act and a projection of the number of Texas residents who would
  lose health insurance coverage as a result of the ACA; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That the Texas secretary of state forward official
  copies of this resolution to the Texas comptroller of public
  accounts.
