CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, In March 2010, President Barack Obama signed into |
|
law a sweeping health care bill, the Patient Protection and |
|
Affordable Care Act; and |
|
WHEREAS, A number of reports have since suggested that the |
|
new federal Medicaid standards imposed by the Act will require |
|
taxpayers to spend millions, even billions, more over the next |
|
decade; and |
|
WHEREAS, In addition, there are likely to be ramifications |
|
for small employers and those who purchase private insurance; for |
|
instance, it has yet to be determined how many people will lose |
|
their health insurance as a result of the ACA; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 83rd Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
hereby direct the comptroller of public accounts to conduct a study |
|
to determine the costs to the state of instituting the Affordable |
|
Care Act and a projection of the number of Texas residents who would |
|
lose health insurance coverage as a result of the ACA; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That the Texas secretary of state forward official |
|
copies of this resolution to the Texas comptroller of public |
|
accounts. |
