HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Raleigh K. Roussell retired as president and CEO of |
|
TEXO in December 2012, concluding an exceptional career in the |
|
commercial building industry that spanned nearly half a century; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Roussell served for more than four decades with |
|
TEXO, today the largest commercial contractors association in Texas |
|
and one of the largest groups affiliated with the national |
|
Associated Builders and Contractors and The Associated General |
|
Contractors of America; and |
|
WHEREAS, Early in his career, from 1968 to 1971, Mr. Roussell |
|
served on the staff of the Dallas chapter of the Associated General |
|
Contractors; after leaving for a time to work for one of the |
|
organization's members, he returned to lead the Dallas AGC in 1976; |
|
over the ensuing years, he continued to guide the staff as the |
|
Dallas AGC merged with the Fort Worth AGC and then, in 2009, as that |
|
organization joined with the North Texas chapter of Associated |
|
Builders and Contractors to form TEXO; and |
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has received a number of honors |
|
for his outstanding work in behalf of his industry, including |
|
induction into the Contractors Hall of Fame at Texas A&M University |
|
and designation as an Honorary Life Member of the American |
|
Institute of Architects; he has also earned the SIR Award from the |
|
Associated General Contractors, the Industry Lifetime Achievement |
|
Award from the Associated Schools of Construction, and the |
|
Chairman's Award from the Black Contractors Association; and |
|
WHEREAS, Active in his community as well, Mr. Roussell has |
|
contributed to area development as a member of the Dallas 2000 |
|
Planning Committee and the Mayor's Task Force on Downtown Dallas; |
|
his involvement with the Dallas Youth Services Corps Board, |
|
Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, American Heart Association, and |
|
Spring Valley Athletic Association has touched many lives, and he |
|
has further given back as a member of the Texas A&M University Board |
|
of Visitors and Custer Road United Methodist Church in Plano; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Roussell has been blessed with the support of a |
|
loving family, which includes his wife of 48 years, Judith Hermann |
|
Roussell, his two children, and his five grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Raleigh Roussell has made an immeasurable |
|
contribution to the commercial building industry in Texas, and he |
|
may reflect with justifiable pride on his many accomplishments as |
|
he looks forward to the next chapter of his life; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 83rd Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
hereby honor Raleigh K. Roussell on his distinguished career as the |
|
chief executive of TEXO and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Roussell as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives and Senate. |
