H.C.R. No. 129
 
 
 
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 
         WHEREAS, Words cannot express the sorrow felt at the loss of
  retired U.S. Army Sergeant Joshua C. Michael of Converse, who
  passed away on November 15, 2012, at the age of 34; and
         WHEREAS, Sergeant Michael died when the wounded veterans
  float on which he was riding during a Veterans Day parade in Midland
  was struck by a train; moments before the impact, he pushed his wife
  to safety, saving her life, but losing his own; and
         WHEREAS, Joshua Michael was born in Hereford on February 22,
  1978, to Pat and Sheryl Michael; after graduating from Amarillo
  High School, he went on to earn a degree at Amarillo College, where
  he also met his future wife, Daylyn Hefley; they were married in
  1997; and
         WHEREAS, After the events of September 11, 2001, this
  courageous Texan answered his nation's call to duty and enlisted in
  the U.S. Army; he rose to the rank of sergeant in the 1st Brigade
  Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, out of Fort Campbell, and
  served two deployments in Iraq, twice earning the Purple Heart;
  medically retired from the army in 2010, he subsequently began a new
  career in San Antonio as a Realtor; and
         WHEREAS, Sergeant Joshua Michael devoted his life to his
  family and his country, and though he was taken much too soon,
  memories of his love and fidelity will continue to inspire all those
  who knew and cared for him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 83rd Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby pay tribute to the life of Sergeant Joshua C. Michael and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
  wife, Daylyn Michael; to his son, Ryan Michael; to his daughter,
  Maci Michael; to his parents, Pat and Sheryl Michael; to his
  sisters, Michelle Cardenas and her husband, John, and Leslie Brooke
  and her husband, Justin; to his father- and mother-in-law, Ron and
  Mary Hefley; to his brother-in-law, Ron Hefley, and his wife,
  Wendy; to his sisters-in-law, Barbara Quilla and her husband, Pete,
  and Penni Hefley Gamblin; and to his other relatives and friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family, and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
  Joshua C. Michael.
