CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, Words cannot express the heartache felt at the loss
  of U.S. Army Private First Class Cody R. Norris of Houston, who died
  while bravely serving his country on November 9, 2011, at the age of
  20; and
         WHEREAS, Assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment,
  1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley,
  Kansas, Private First Class Norris lost his life in Kandahar
  Province, Afghanistan; and
         WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt of gratitude to this
  nation's servicemen and servicewomen, who make immeasurable
  sacrifices for their country and who risk their very lives in its
  behalf; and
         WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed
  forces, Cody R. Norris inspired others with his fortitude,
  tenacity, and courage; although his death leaves a void in the lives
  of his loved ones, they will forever carry memories of this heroic
  Texan close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 83rd Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby pay tribute to the life of Private First Class Cody R. Norris
  and extend sincere sympathy to all those who mourn his passing; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
  U.S. Army Private First Class Cody R. Norris.
