CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, Words cannot express the heartache felt at the loss |
|
of U.S. Army Private First Class Cody R. Norris of Houston, who died |
|
while bravely serving his country on November 9, 2011, at the age of |
|
20; and |
|
WHEREAS, Assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment, |
|
1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, |
|
Kansas, Private First Class Norris lost his life in Kandahar |
|
Province, Afghanistan; and |
|
WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt of gratitude to this |
|
nation's servicemen and servicewomen, who make immeasurable |
|
sacrifices for their country and who risk their very lives in its |
|
behalf; and |
|
WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed |
|
forces, Cody R. Norris inspired others with his fortitude, |
|
tenacity, and courage; although his death leaves a void in the lives |
|
of his loved ones, they will forever carry memories of this heroic |
|
Texan close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 83rd Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
hereby pay tribute to the life of Private First Class Cody R. Norris |
|
and extend sincere sympathy to all those who mourn his passing; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of |
|
U.S. Army Private First Class Cody R. Norris. |
