R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Beverly Jo Cage is retiring as principal of Almeda
  Elementary School on June 14, 2013, concluding a distinguished
  career in education that has spanned nearly four decades; and
         WHEREAS, After seven years in Indianapolis public schools,
  Ms. Cage moved to Texas in 1982 and joined the Houston Independent
  School District as a vocational coordinator for Westbury High
  School; she went on to serve Mading Elementary School for 12 years,
  first as assistant principal and then as principal; subsequently,
  she served as Southeast Title I supervisor and also filled the role
  of acting principal at Crespo and Davila Elementary Schools; since
  2002, this dynamic professional has led Almeda Elementary School,
  where she oversees the education of 760 students in pre-K through
  fifth grade; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Cage has further benefited Houston ISD over the
  years through her service on numerous committees and as a mentor for
  new principals; moreover, she was a member of the Texas School
  Improvement Initiative Panel; giving generously of her time and
  talents to the wider community, she serves on the City of Houston's
  Public Safety Committee, and she has volunteered with neighborhood
  centers; in all her endeavors, she is supported by the love and
  encouragement of her husband, Bob, and her daughter, Katie; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout her noteworthy career, Ms. Cage has set
  high standards to which other educators may aspire, and as she
  prepares to embark on the next exciting chapter in her life, she may
  indeed reflect with pride on her outstanding contributions; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Beverly Jo Cage on her retirement
  from the Houston Independent School District and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Cage as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
