R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Lowrie Sanders retired as constable for Precinct 3
  of Kaufman County on December 31, 2012, drawing to a close a notable
  career in law enforcement that spanned more than four decades; and
         WHEREAS, The son of a Kaufman County constable, Lowrie
  Sanders grew up wanting to follow in his father's footsteps, and in
  1967, after serving six years in the armed forces, he joined the
  Terrell police force as a reserve officer; and
         WHEREAS, Upon entering the profession, Constable Sanders
  distinguished himself in a number of posts; in addition to being a
  policeman in both Terrell and Kaufman, he was the chief of police in
  Kemp, and in 1985 he was elected constable of Kaufman County
  Precinct 2; he held that post for 15 years before shifting to the
  county sheriff's department, and he then served as constable of
  Precinct 3 for 10 years; and
         WHEREAS, His commendable performance and many achievements
  through the years gained him widespread respect and admiration, and
  in recognition of his contributions to the community, the mayor of
  Terrell proclaimed December 31, 2012, as "Lowrie Sanders Day"; and
         WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Constable Sanders enjoys
  the love and support of his wife, Doris, and their children, Angie,
  Tammy, and Casey, and retirement will allow him more time to spend
  with them and his six grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan's devotion to duty and
  commitment to excellence have contributed to the safety and
  well-being of his fellow citizens, and he may indeed reflect with
  pride on his accomplishments as he embarks on the next exciting
  chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Lowrie Sanders on his retirement as
  Kaufman County constable and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Constable Sanders as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
